OUR WORK
Olalekan Farm

Our Challenge
Olalekan Farm, a multigenerational, community-driven farm in Prince George’s County, MD, needed a visual identity that honored its mission: providing fresh, sustainable food while creating a welcoming space for Black women, queer people, and the broader community. The brand had to reflect themes of land reclamation, inclusivity, wellness, and ancestral connection — all while remaining clear, memorable, and flexible for future growth.

Brand Identity
Our Approach
We began with a deep discovery process, including conversations with founder Farmer Tolu to understand their personal story, the farm’s roots on formerly plantation-owned land, and the significance of growing culturally resonant crops like okra and ginger. The design direction emerged from this narrative: warm earth tones, organic patterns, and typefaces that balance modern clarity with grounded heritage. The resulting brand system included a logo suite, color palette, custom pattern, and font recommendations rooted in peace, growth, and belonging.
Our Impact
The new identity offers a cohesive, authentic visual foundation for Olalekan Farm to expand its reach and impact. It communicates trust, care, and purpose — setting the stage for future initiatives such as herbal product lines and a dedicated website. This project was made possible through funding from Dreaming Out Loud, reinforcing the role of design in supporting food justice and community resilience.
